Painting process
I'm not very good at art, but I want to do something creative. Is BestCanvas for me?
You bet. All you have to do is match numbers to numbers and stay (somehow) within the lines. The numbers lay out a roadmap to success for Best Canvas, so there's no need to worry about the imposing nature of a blank canvas (which can intimidate even the most experienced artists!).
My colors have been packed up and ready to go. Where/how do I start?
Everywhere!
This is where the "choice" pictorial adventure comes into play. Some like to start with their favorite number, others with their favorite color. Some start from the center of the canvas, others from top to bottom, from left to right or from right to left. There are those who start with the lighter colors and then move on to the darker ones.
However you decide to paint, here's our number one tip: Don't rub your wrists/hands with wet paint. You run the risk of dragging it across the canvas to other areas... which can create an unintentional mess.
Pay close attention to this aspect and complete the painting in the order that best suits you!
The colors seem quite dense. Do I need to add water?
It's not necessary... most of the time!
Our acrylic paints are meant to be thick and used as is; they are intentionally thick so that they cover the printed lines and numbers. However, some colors may be denser than others (like... very dense), which is rare. In this case, add a few drops of water to the paint container and stir to dilute it.
Some of my colors are more transparent than others. Depends on what?
Each pigment (aka color) has unique properties, including opacity. And some pigments are more opaque than others. If you're not happy with the look of one layer, paint another one once the first one has dried. This should solve the problem!
Is it my eyes or do some of my colors look the same? I am?
It's not a magic trick, and each color plate is different from the other.
Because we try to achieve the highest level of realism and do the most accurate job possible of matching colors to your photo or image, you may notice that two or three vases look *very* similar in color. And yet they are different... even if only slightly. Our paint library contains hundreds of colors, with differences that are sometimes barely noticeable!
You will see the difference when the colors dry: each one will take on its own shade! #science. We are proud to have a library of hundreds of colors to make.
I can't wait to complete my painting! How long does it take to finish a project?
Here's the basic math:
More people = faster. Fewer people = slower.
Fewer details = faster. More details = slower.
And remember: you can't rush art!
Sometimes I get excited when I create (i.e. get dirty). Is the paint washable?
Put on your apron and do your best to keep the brushes at bay: acrylic paint is only washable if you hit it with hot water right away! If you don't wash the paint off your clothes right away, it will usually stay with you forever.
